Welcome back to our coverage of the games we will be playing on International Tabletop Day this Saturday! We will have scheduled games, a selection of games we can teach on request, and our library available to play whenever you wish! Bring your friends, tell your family; it is going to be an great day. The fourth scheduled game we will be featuring is a slightly more advanced game about journeying across Japan.
Tokaido is one of my go-to games when I want to show people how cool board games really are. This game bucks most of the classic fantasy and sci-fi conventions that some find disquieting, and instead features a lovely theme, easy mechanics, and gorgeous artwork. In Tokaido, players control travelers who are making the journey between Kyoto and Edo on the magnificent East road. Along the way players will paint panoramas, buy souvenirs, meet new friends, relax in hot springs, and generally try to have as good a time as possible. In fact, the entire purpose of this game is, in the words of the manual, “to make this journey as rich an experience as possible.” Sound like a good time? To find out for sure, come on down to Glimpses this Saturday, and help us celebrate the third international Tabletop day!
